  4. Ashley is a new Type 1 Postscript font that mimics a sophisticated, probably
  5. female, print handwriting. It's wonderful for adding realistic annotations to
  6. documents, or making handwritten memos. Rotating the annotations slightly
  7. and putting them in another color maximizes the effect. It prints well in its
  8. normal style,  and when oblique and heavy (Postscript's synthetic Italic
  9. and Bold just select Italic and/or Bold from the menu and it should come out
  10. OK).

  12. You are welcome to install Ashley, just drag the files Ashle and Ashley.AFM
  13. into your System folder, and use the Font/DA mover (or Suitcase II etc.) to
  14. install the file Ashley.bitmap into your system file. Take a look at it,
  15. write a personalized memo to yourself, print some out...You can even imagine
  16. your secretary writing like this (great for those who don't have a secretary,
  17. but wished they did!).

  19. To save downloading time, I've only included 24 point bitmap. If you have
  20. ATM, Ashley should look nice at most sizes. If you have a LaserWriter or
  21. other Postscript Printer, your printouts should look great, provided you've
  22. installed Ashley properly and aren't printing a PICT version (like the sample
  23. at the top of this document). For those of you needing more bitmap sizes,
  24. they are available, as well as foreign/special charaters and EPS art for
  25. customization.

  27. Ashley is being distributed as SHAREWARE. This allows you to try it out before
  28. you decide whether it's worth keeping. If you keep it and use it, The Author
  29. (that's me) requests that you pay him $10 by check or money order in US funds.
  30. If you are using it for commercial purposes, please pay $25. When I receive and
  31. cash your check, you are granted a license to use Ashley (the Author maintains
  32. the copyright). If you don't like it, or don't feel it's worth $10 to you,
  33. drag it into the trash, or let your friends & associates take a look instead.

  35. You are free to distribute & upload Ashley, provided that you keep all of
  36. these files (Especially this one!) TOGETHER and ABSOLUTELY UNALTERED. Please
  37. don't sell Ashley or use it as an incentive to sell something else.

  39. If you feel too lazy/cheap/busy to send me a check, imagine how long it takes
  40. to make and refine a typeface, drawn completely de novo (i.e. without another
  41. font serving as a template). Think how much you would have paid for a font
  42. like this retail. The more people respond favorably, the more incentive I'll
  43. have to make new and better typefaces, and support the ones I've made...the
  44. shareware concept makes computing better for all of us. Thanks for your
  45. support, and enjoy the Font!

  55. licensing & registration, materials, postage & handling. Please specify that
  56. you want The "ASHLEY FULL CHARACTER SET" with your check, and since I'm a
  57. one-man operation, allow me some time to get it out to you (Start screaming
  58. at eight weeks). Bitmap Collections and Illustrator/Freehand EPS Art are
  59. included, and TrueType formats will be available sometime soon. Other fonts
  60. are available as well, e.g. Caraway Bold and BlackForest, please ask for
  61. samples.
